Photograph Album of Travels in West Africa in 1936, featuring Belgian Congo, Uganda, Niger, Ghana (Gold Coast), Nigeria, Ivory
Coast, and Sudan. Album contains 127 original B + W photographs of travels in West Africa in 1936, featuring Belgian Congo,
Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Niger and Sudan. Green cloth album measuring approximately 9 inches x 12 inches (23cm x 30cm). Photographs
vary in size, the smallest being 2.25 inches x 3.5 inches (6cm x 9cm), and the largest being 3 inches x 4.25 inches (8cm x
11 c). Photographs mounted with photo corners to 17 leafs, 16 of which are double-sided, with English manuscript caption in
white ink. Also included is a printed itinerary of the travel mounted on one leaf. Album also features towns and villages
of Belgian Congo, Uganda, Niger, Ghana (Gold Coast), Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Sudan, among them are Kisenyi (in Kivu), Tchibondo,
Wanmba, Stanleyville, Coquilhatville (Mbandaka), Zinder, Togaland, Takoradi, Sekondi, Kumasic, Accra, Lagos, Haute - Volta
(colony of French West Africa), and Kayas. Examples of daily life and costumes of indigenous tribes native to West Africa.
Among the photographs: Pygmy tribe of Beni, pygmy hunters, chief of Tchibondo and his wives, Tchibondo villager dancing in
their traditional costumes, Mangbetu tribe with their elongated heads, with doctor in Coquillhatville, chief of Niger, Lake
Kivu, volcanic craters, Stanley Falls, River Niger, huts in Uganda, Elmina Castle in Gold Coast (Ghana, Moore's house in Logos,
